Dental radiographs are invaluable aids in diagnosing, treating, and maintaining dental health. Dr. Willden chooses carefully when and which radiographs are taken. There are many guidelines that we follow. Radiographs enable us to detect cavities between your teeth, determine bone level, and health of bone. They also provide us with the ability to detect cavities sooner. We can also examine the roots and nerves of teeth, diagnose lesions such as cysts or tumors, as well as assess damage if trauma has occurred.
At Willden Family Dental, we utilize cutting-edge Digital Imaging Technology on the most sophisticated German-Engineered equipment. And for your safety, Digital X-rays utilize 90% less radiation than traditional X-rays. In addition, it helps us retrieve valuable diagnostic information. Digital radiographs allow us to see everything we cannot see with our own eyes.
The advantages of digital imaging are not only to store patient images, but also to enable us to quickly transfer them to appropriate specialists or insurance companies. Digital X-rays offer more precision since we view the image on a computer monitor, instead of holding up a 35mm film up to the light. This capability allows Dr. Willden to better explain and SHOW you your dental condition in a way that you’ll easily understand.
During the scan, each image is made using a short X-ray pulse instead of continuous radiation. The total scanning time is 18 seconds, but the actual exposure time is only 6 seconds. This technique reduces patient radiation dose considerably and forms a stroboscopic X-ray effect which, together with the shortened rotation scan (only 194 degrees), contributes to the outstanding image quality.
